Plan for Success and Increase Your Value as a PGA Member
Planning is the key to success when trying to further your career path and improve services for your customers. Here are a few ideas as you head into next season.
Examine your personal career goals and decide if a new opportunity such as General Manager, Head Professional or Director of Instruction might be right for you. If you are looking to make a change, make sure you understand the skills that are needed for that position, and make a plan to gain that experience.
Talk to customers and visit other facilities to identify improvements you could put in place to better serve your members or customers, improve your market share, and attract new customers.
Set specific goals for the season. Whether it’s polishing your PGA Jr. League or Drive, Chip and Putt programs, or improving golf shop operations, make sure that your goals are SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-bound).
Decide on metrics to gauge your success. Metrics must be quantifiable, and can be base don financial success, results of customer satisfaction surveys, number of students enrolled in your programs, or whatever makes best sense for your goal.
